Mindfulness Meditation: Finding Stillness and Inner Peace
Take a moment to notice the support beneath you. Feel the steady surface directly beneath your body, supporting you in all the right places and all the right ways. Surrender more of your body's weight to this support and allow yourself to soften into it.
Bring your attention to the flow of your breath. Notice the gentle expansion of the in-breath and the release of the out-breath. Become aware of the sensation as air enters and leaves your nostrils, feeling the coolness as it enters and the warmth as it leaves.
Allow your breath to slow and lengthen, letting everything be just as it is. Observe the play of light and shade through your closed eyelids, embracing the spaciousness around you.
Sense the air touching your face and body. Expand your awareness to the furthest horizons and beyond. Breathe in the spaciousness and allow it to fill the places within you that have been closed off. Let the vastness of the sky and horizon remind you of the infinite possibilities that exist within you.
Resting the Mind
Sit back on the steadiness beneath your body and allow your mind to soften and rest. Give your mind a sky bath, immersing it in the vastness of the present moment. Release any concerns or worries that you've been carrying and let them flow out into the ocean and away.
Affirmation and Conclusion
As we come to the end of this meditation, take a moment to focus on the sensation of air entering and leaving your nostrils. Acknowledge that you are here, in this moment, and affirm that all is well. When you are ready, gently bring your attention back to the present and open your eyes.
